On the basis of the sole authority constituted by the Bible as the Word of God, we list below the doctrines that we consider decisive for a correct understanding of the faith, which must be expressed in love of neighbor, in practical service and in the proclamation of the Gospel.
- We believe in the Bible, which is made up of 66 books. It is inspired in its original manuscripts and constitutes the only norm of faith and conduct. (2 Ti 3:15-16)
- We believe in a triune God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Eternal in their being, identical in their nature, equal in power and in glory, having the same attributes and the same perfections. (De 6:4; Isa 43:10; Mt 28:19; Joh 10:30; Col 2:9)
- We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; he became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit. He was born of the virgin Mary to reveal the Father to us and to redeem sinful man. (Mt 1:20; Joh 1:28; Phl 2:6-7)
- We believe that Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice, and our justification is fully attested to by His literal and physical resurrection from the dead. (Ro 4:25; 1 Co 6:20; 2 Co 5:21; 1 Pet 3:18)
- We believe that Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and is now exalted to the right hand of the Father, who will come again to this world to establish his kingdom. His coming will be physical and sudden. (Ac 1:10-11; Heb 7:25; 8:1-2; 1Jo 2:1; 1 Co 15:53; Mt 25:21; 1 Thes 4:15-17; 5-9)
- We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment and He is the supernatural means of regeneration. He dwells in the believer and seals him until the day of redemption. He is the divine teacher who guides believers into all truth and it is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to be filled with the Holy Spirit. (Joh 16:8; Ac 5:3; 1 Co 12:13,30; Eph 4:5,30; Joh 16:13; Eph 5:18)
- We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that through Adam's sin man fell, inherited a sinful nature, and was separated from God. Furthermore, it is impossible for man, by his works, to remedy to its state of perdition. (Ge 1:27; 2:17; Ro 3:23; 5;12-14)
- We believe that salvation is the gift of God that reaches man through God's grace and is received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; all who personally receive the Lord Jesus in this way are born again of the Holy Spirit and through the new birth become children of God. (John 1:12; 3:5,16; Eph 2:8-9; Gal 5: 13)
- We believe that Jesus' command to preach the gospel to all men still applies to every believer. (Mt 28:19-20; 2 Co 4:5; 2 Ti 4:2-5)
- We believe that the author of sin is Satan, that he is an enemy of God and man and will be punished eternally in the lake of fire. (Isa 14:14; Eph 2:2; Rev 20:10)
- We believe the scriptures teach that all who by faith are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will reign with him eternally. Those who do not accept God's offer of forgiveness and mercy will spend eternity punished in hell. (2 Ti 2:12; Rev 22:5; 20:13-14)
- We believe that the Church, which is the body of Christ, began with the descent of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost; that everyone who personally accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior becomes a member of the body of Crito and of the universal Church; that, in addition to belonging to the universal Church, every believer must feel obliged to belong to a local Church, within which to exercise his spiritual gifts. (Ro 12:3-8; 1 Co 12:13; Eph 4:11-16; Heb 10:25)
